The Cuba Alumni Association of St. Kitts and Nevis stands in solidarity with the efforts of the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba in offering its medical programme that benefits not only the youth of St. Kitts and Nevis, but also numerous countries in the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe.

Since the inception in 1997 when the first batch of Kittitian and Nevisian students left our shores to participate in the programme, nearly 200 local students have had the opportunity to participate in various academic pursuits at several universities in Cuba.

Our students have been trained in a diverse range of fields including Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Economics, Accounting. Psychology, Sociology, Philology Industrial, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Architecture, Agricultural Studies, Early Childhood Education etc.

Furthermore, several of our graduates who are doctors and other trained professionals have returned to Cuba to specialize in critical areas such as General Surgery, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology (Ear Nose and Throat), Oncology, Pediatrics, Anesthesiology, Radiology Pathology, and Forestry Science, subsequently assuming vital roles within St. Kitts and Nevis.

We are aware of the challenges faced by the Government and People of Cuba because of the decades old United States Economic Embargo. Despite these obstacles, Cuba has achieved undeniable success in the fields of health and education. Its contribution to global health is remarkable and internationally recognized. Cuba’s achievements in medicine and medical aid have been a hallmark of its healthcare system.
