FISCAL PERFORMANCE OF THE TEAM UNITY GOVERNMENT REMAINS STRONG

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 30, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Figures recently released by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) have shown that both the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) are currently in strong fiscal standings.

The ECCB, in its June 2018 Economic and Financial Review for St. Kitts and Nevis, reported that the fiscal operations of the Federal Government resulted in an overall surplus (after grants) of $110.7 million in the first six months of 2018, compared with a smaller surplus of $19.0m in the corresponding period of 2017.

To pay tribute to the victims, support those who are fighting and raise awareness to the potential, the entire staff within the Ministry, wore pink clothing to support the cause as Cancer and Breast Cancer Awareness is celebrated Internationally in October.

The Ministry wishes to advise the public that early detection saves lives!

St. Kitts and Nevis and The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Celebrate 35 Years of Diplomatic Relations
Basseterre, St. Kitts, Oct 30, 2018– At a Cocktail held at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of  Venezuela, on Friday, October 26, 2018, the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela celebrated the 35th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. St. Kitts and Nevis and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela established diplomatic relations on October 31, 1983.

Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Mr. Jose Antonio Olavarria, highlighted the excellent bilateral relations characterized “cordiality and understanding for years” and that “St. Kitts and Nevis is a fundamental partner to Venezuela”. He informed that Venezuela takes great pride in contributing to the development of the country. He advised that this is demonstrative in the fact that Venezuela’s two most recent Presidents, both visited the Federation.

FOUR CHARGED FOR FIREARM FOUND IN ST. PAUL’S

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 30, 2018 (RSCNPF): The four individuals who were taken into Police custody for questioning in relation to a firearm and several rounds of ammunition that were found in St. Paul’s last week have all been charged.

Alex Jules, Vashney Jules, Everette Davis and Khaliq David, all of Willetts Housing Project, St. Paul’s Village, were charged for the offences of Possession of Firearm and Possession of Ammunition. They were charged on October 27 and are currently in Police custody.

Canadian Colleges and Universities Visit St. Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre (23rd October, 2018). On the occasion of the International Study Fair hosted by the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) on 23rd October, 2018, a total of seven (7) Canadian Educational Institutions* along with representatives from the Canadian High Commission in Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago visited St. Kitts and Nevis.
