Beers and Guinness spilled in Constituency Number Seven Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 13, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Still reeling from the euphoria of having whitewashed an opposing team 13-0 in the second round of the round-robin stage in the 23rd edition of the annual Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League competition, on Tuesday Beers Domino Club suffered a home loss.

Playing during the third segment of play in the second round of the domino league, Beers were at home in Bernette Bar in Hidden Alley Lodge Village where they faced the visiting Christchurch Domino Club. Not bothered by their away disadvantage, the team led by Captain Zeyn Pencheon went ahead and beat their hosts comfortably 13-8.

GREATER LOVE AND PATRIOTISM NEEDED IF ST. KITTS AND NEVIS IS TO ACHIEVE EVEN GREATER THINGS, SAYS QC GONSALVES

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, September 13, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – With a population of about just over 55,000 people, the 104 square mile twin island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has accomplished remarkable feats in a number of areas including tourism, sports, education and business.

Dr. Vance Gilbert , former Candidate of the SKN Labour Party and Opposing Candidate to Prime Minister Dr. Hon Timothy Harris in the 2015 General Election chairs the annual Independence 35 Prime Minister’s Lecture Series with featured speaker Attorney Anthony Gonsalves QC

Last year I wrote and released a Calypso entitled “Politics Destroying We” to bring focus on the severe political tribalism in our federation and called for us to bridge the political divide.

To do so it would mean changing many thing including, working with each other in the interest of the federation despite our political persuasions. To also stop the hating on persons for opposing views and support. If we work on bridging the divide, we will bring an end to the bitterness harnessed by politics and an end to political victimization towards opposition supporters.

I’ve also said repeatedly that every individual has a right to chose their political affiliation and free to change their minds and support another if they so desire. That’s why I can’t join in the criticism of former Labour Candidate for No. 7 Dr. Vance Gilbert for chairing the Prime Minister’s Lecture Series last night.

While his decision took many by surprise, it’s understandable that national events should not be partisan events like they have been. It’s time for us to stop the hate and unite for the good of all and our beloved county.
