75 delegates to attend 42nd CPA Regional Conference in St. Kitts

LONDON, ENGLAND, May 27th 2017 – As preparations are underway for the 42nd Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) to be held in St. Kitts next month, WICNews is reporting that 12 parliamentary speakers and 75 delegates will attend the meeting.

According to London-based WICNews the June 16th to 24th meeting is themed: “Enhancing Democracy through the Use of the Parliamentary System and the Media.”

The CPA “connects, develops, promotes and supports parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and the implementation of the enduring values of the Commonwealth.”

Akbar Khan, CPA Secretary General, is scheduled to attend the meeting with representations from 14 parliamentary branches.

Last evening Friday 26th May 2017, the Louisa-Grant Preschool held its first ‘ What Do You Know’ quiz. The positions of the competitors are as follows: First place Florence Batista, second place Shalom Jean and third place Breanna Berry.

Dr. Terreance Drew had the opportunity to present the young future leaders at the Louisa -Grant pre- school , Conaree with their winning trophies after their quiz .The were well- prepared and all did well .

Congratulations to Teacher Paulette , staff , parents and students .

to taint the judicial and parliamentary branches.

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, May 25th 2017 – Chairperson of the opposition St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Hon. Marcella Liburd said Wednesday expressed concern over actions by Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris to erode democracy in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Liburd, who is also the Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher 2 (Central Basseterre), has warned of incidents of injustice not only in the Parliament but also in a level of the judiciary.

Red Eyes

Buckie Got It  Question & Concern. Presently there is a wide outbreak of red eyes going on in St. Kitts and Nevis and there are no public announcements from the health authorities. Things such as prevention and cures should be made public. The schools are now sending home the children to prevent the spread to others and parents now have to stay home with their children, which is ok. But why is it the health authorities haven’t out a public statements in dealing with these things?
