FIREARM TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY THROUGH POLICE-PUBLIC COOPERATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 18, 2018 (RSCNPF): More is achieved when the public gets involved. This was the case when a second firearm was taken off the streets of our community this past week.

On Thursday, February 15, one (1) .40 pistol, along with 119 rounds of .40 ammunition and one (1) .22 round of ammunition was taken into police custody. This was as a result of the swift action taken by a civic-minded citizen of the Federation.

This brings to seven (7) the number of firearms taken into police custody to date for the year 2018 as compared to three (3) for the same period in 2017.

The Commissioner of Police commended the citizen for reacting to the Police’s call for the public to assist with their efforts.

“The Police is pleased with the kind of thoughtfulness and civic-mindedness displayed by the individual. This means that there is one (1) more firearm off the streets of St. Kitts and Nevis. Every illegal firearm taken into police custody represents a potential loss of life,” said Commissioner Queeley.

The Police has been calling for greater cooperation between the public and the police. To date, many individuals have assisted the police and their actions have led to several successes. However, while the gains, so far, have been good there is scope for more to be done to reduce the level of criminal activity.

“We encourage persons who may know or see something, to say something and that is the way we will be able to reduce the fear of crime and criminal activity within the Federation” stressed the Commissioner of Police.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 18, 2018 – Having ‘sowed the wind’ in opposition with regards to the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, is now ‘reaping the whirlwind’ as he celebrates the third anniversary of his Team Unity government.
Dr. Harris’ assault on the St. Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Programme started when he clandestinely began his treacherous plot to derail the continued progress of St. Kitts and Nevis being successfully orchestrated by the Denzil Douglas Labour Cabinet, that he was a member of since July 1995.
He did so with the assistance of his new found friends in the opposition Peoples Action Movement (PAM), who once publicly announced in a press release dated December 9 2009, that Harris was ready to leave Labour and join PAM..a charge he refuted at the time.
