INAUGURAL POLICE SUMMER YOUTH CAMP SHOWCASES TEAMWORK, PEACE AND PROSPERITY

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 14, 2017 (SKNIS): Teamwork, peace and prosperity were on full display on Monday (August 14) at the opening of the inaugural Police Summer Youth Camp being held at the Dr. William Connor Primary School.
Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, attended the opening ceremony and said his “heart was glad” to see the leadership shown by the organizers in hosting 200 young people. He said the partnerships between the public and private sector and community persons are the hallmark of a good community policing programme and congratulated the men and women of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force that organized the two-week camp.

Local Fishermen To Benefit From Fisher Training Courses

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 16, 2017 (SKNIS): Fisher folk are set to benefit from a 4-day Basic Fisher Training Course (BFTC), the first of which is being held at the Dieppe Bay Cooperative Center by the Department of Marine Resources.

At the end of the course, a certificate of attendance will be issued to all participants who successfully complete the training and they will receive a fisher license as part of the Department’s efforts to re-register fishermen operating in St. Kitts.

St. Kitts-Nevis To Send Contingent To CARIFESTA XIII

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); CARIFESTA XIII officially opens on Thursday (Aug 17), however officials in St. Kitts only on Wednesday afternoon gave approval for a contingent to travel to Barbados for the multi-national cultural event.
WINN FM understands that the initial plan was for a contingent of over 50 persons to travel to represent St. Kitts and Nevis, however an official source has indicated that at such a late date, it is unclear how many persons would be able to make the trip.

St. Kitts and Nevis Opposition Leader Douglas against introduction of visa for Venezuelans

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD – Former St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas Tuesday urged Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders not to impose visa restrictions on Venezuelans in light of the ongoing political situation in that South American country.
The St. Lucia government said it is considering imposing visa restrictions on Venezuelans visiting the island as a result of the political situation in the South American country where opposition forces are seeking to remove President Nicolas Maduro from power.
