The United States will be absent from the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986 next year after a humiliating 2-1 defeat to Trinidad & Tobago in Couva on Tuesday.

The defeat for USA ended a run of seven straight American appearances at football’s showcase.

Wattley slams PM Harris over treatment of public servants

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 11th 2017 – Two years and two months after the demise of Mr. Elvis Newton, Head of the Civil Service, the position remains vacant.

Douglas Wattley, former chairman of Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris’ co-ruling People’s Labour Party (PLP) has accused Dr. Harris of not doing anything to advance the public service for the nearly three years he has been in office.

St. Kitts and Nevis’ Hurricane Relief Fund, a cover for soliciting campaign contributions, illegal activities

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 11th 2017 – Public concern that provisions in the recently signed Statutory Rules & Regulations No. 14 of 2017 establishing the St. Kitts and Nevis Hurricane Fund could be a cover for soliciting election campaign contributions and contributions from illegal activities.

During Tuesday’s edition of “Ask the Leader” with former prime minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, political activist, Austin Edinborough, pointed to Section 6A (1) of the S R & O which states: ‘There is hereby established a Fund to be known as the St. Kitts and Nevis Hurricane Relief Fund and the Fund shall consist of (a) all monies contributed into the Fund for the purposes of an application for Citizenship by Investment.’
