LIAT Goes To Court To Get Pilots Back in the Skies
ST JOHN’S, Antigua, Friday June 9, 2017 – With pilots continuing strike action that has forced the cancellation and delays of flights across the region, LIAT has decided to turn to the court for help.
Management of the airline has filed an application for a court injunction to end the strike that began on Wednesday as pilots refuse to fly LIAT’s ATR 72 series aircraft without additional compensation.

LIAT regrets to advise our passengers that
industrial action has been taken today by the members of the Leeward Islands
Airline Pilots Association (LIALPA). In the ongoing negotiations for higher wages,
which includes the operation of the ATR aircraft, the pilots have taken action to
refuse to fly the ATR 72 aircraft until agreement is reached. As a consequence of
this action we have not been able to operate flights scheduled with ATR 72 aircraft
at this time. These actions have already resulted in a number of delays and
cancellations.

Liburd, Drew add voice to hundreds opposed to Team Unity plans to build new High School on Basseterre Aquifer
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, June 1, 2017 – Opposition parliamentarians have been weighing in public outrage denouncing plans by the Team Unity Government to construct a new Basseterre High School (BHS) on lands of the Basseterre Aquifer.
St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party chairperson, Hon. Marcella Liburd, MP for St. Christopher 2 (Central Basseterre) Wednesday described the Team Unity Government plans as “a callous and irresponsible act to build any high school on the water table.”

New App to Enhance the Grenada Visitor Experience
ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, Tuesday May 30, 2017 – The Grenada Hotel and Tourism Association (GHTA) has taken a major step to enhance visitor experience, with the release of its exciting new app.
The Pure Grenada App, launched last Thursday, is a one-stop shop showcasing events and locations in Grenada along with digital images and information of restaurants, accommodation, culture, activities, festivals and points of interest in the tri-island state.
It showcases a simple interface featuring places to explore, events, favourites saved by the user and close by locations. If you already know what you’re looking for then, the app features a search engine that allows you to go straight to the information you seek. It also allows for users to submit their reviews and ratings. An important feature to note is that the app can be accessed without a data connection.
GHTA Information Technology Officer Clevon Noel said that as development in technology continues, tourism must keep up with new innovations and the tourism authority was excited to provide the new tool.

UNITY: New Cayman Islands Government Includes Both Political Parties Along With Independents
GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands, Tuesday May 30, 2017 – It’s a done deal! Tomorrow, a new 13-member government of the Cayman Islands will be installed with leader of the People’s Progressive Movement (PPM) Alden McLaughlin at the helm once again.
After several days of intense negotiations that featured three previous deals, Premier-elect McLaughlin convinced his former political rival McKeeva Bush and his teammates from the Cayman Democratic Party (CDP) Bernie Bush and Eugene Banks, as well as three independents Austin Harris, Tara Rivers and Dwayne Seymour to join forces.
