A three-week lockdown has been declared in two districts of Uganda as the country battles an Ebola outbreak.

Bars, nightclubs, places of worship and entertainment venues will be closed in Mubende and neighbouring Kassanda, and a curfew will come into force.

In keeping with our new plan, funding was approved for medical treatment for the first patient from the children’s health program, Pediatric Assistance League of St. Kitts and Nevis (PALS), since our government took office. Ju’Niyah traveled yesterday to Barbados to undergo 10 months of medical treatment and chemotherapy at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

As part of activities to mark World Mental Health Day this week, three (3) Police Officers in Division ‘C’ (Nevis) – Inspector Reynold Meyers, Sergeant Jason Audain and Constable Glenville Nisbett – were awarded for their sterling contribution over the years to the Mental Health Unit in a brief ceremony at the Gender Affairs Conference Room in Charlestown. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Shelisa Martin-Clarke distributed the awards to the Officers. This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day was “Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority”.
