Press Release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

In a ceremony held in Washington on November 6th 2018, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis and the Government of the Republic of Serbia have established diplomatic relations.

This historic event is in keeping with the vision of the Government of St Kitts to expand its diplomatic footprint among nations and peoples far and near in an ever more interconnected world.

Formerly a part of Yugoslavia and now a United Nations member country, the Republic of Serbia with its 7 million inhabitants, is strategically located between southeastern Europe and the Balkans.

Signing on behalf of the Republic of Serbia was Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the US, H.E. Mr. Đerđ Matkoić while his counterpart H.E Thelma Phillip-Browne, signed on behalf of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis.

Man shot last night in Lower Monkey Hill

At about 1240am on 8/11/18 information was relayed to the unit of a shooting that took place at Lower Monkey Hill. As a result of further information No. 722 DC Caesar visited the JNF General Hospital. Upon arrival the ambulance came shortly after with a male identified as 32years old Ian Pemberton a Car Wash businessman of Lower Monkey Hill will multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Preliminary investigation relieved that the victim operates his car wash business in the yard of Dr Drew Constituency Office at Lower Monkey Hill.

Minister Brantley engages with Osaka Prefecture Government Officials
(6 November, 2018) Minister Brantley and his delegation today concluded the invitation program to Japan with high level meetings with officials of the Osaka Prefecture Government. During the discussion, the Japanese officials referred to the Tourism Expo familiarization trip which was recently held in September and brought together government officials from across the Caribbean with the aim of expanding Caribbean Tourism in Japan. The Osaka officials also expressed a willingness to expand the people to people engagements and to work together to strengthen tourism between Saint Kitts and Nevis Japan and also the wider Caribbean.
