PLP OVERWHELMED BY RESPONSE TO MEMBERSHIP DRIVE . HUNDREDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE NOW OFFICIAL MEMBERS

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, (March 22, 2017 ) – With the People’s Labour Party (PLP) set to host its first National Convention this coming Saturday (March 25), the party is overwhelmed by the response to their recent membership drive.

Hundreds of mostly young persons from across all 11 constituencies in the Federation  have signed up as official members of the Peoples Labour Party.

Speaking with His Excellency Ambassador Michael Powell on the popular radio programme “The People’s Voice”, on Sugar City 90.3 FM, Party Leader Prime Minister Harris said he is impressed with the vast interest residents are showing in becoming members of the party, which is the youngest political party that makes up the tri-party Team Unity Government.

TWO IN CUSTODY FOR RECENT BURGLARIES IN WEST FARMS AND CAMPS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 15, 2017 (RSCNPF): Two persons have been arrested on suspicion of two recent Burglaries in the West Farms and Camps area.

The incidents occurred on Monday (March 13).

We urge residents to be alert, look out for each other in our communities and to report any suspicious activity or criminal activity they may be aware of. By working together in fighting crime we can make a difference.

Crime Prevention Tip For The Day (Home Safety)

Always lock your doors and windows. Before retiring for the night, walk your home and hand touch all windows and doors to ensure they are properly secured. Doors should be locked with a deadbolt. Install guards on windows that prevent them from being raised more than a few inches. Never leave a key hidden outside under the mat or in a flower pot for friends and family. Burglars look there as well.

FIREARM AND AMMUNITION DISCOVERED IN UNACCOMPANIED BAGGAGE – SEVENTH (7th) YEAR TO DATE

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 20, 2017 (RSCNPF): A firearm and sixty-eight (68) rounds of ammunition were discovered and seized in a piece of luggage that arrived at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on Thursday (March 09) onboard a flight from the United States.

The luggage was unaccompanied and tagged to a passenger travelling to St. Kitts. The passenger never arrived in the Federation.

Found was one (1) Taurus (.357 Magnum) revolver and sixty-eight (68) .357 rounds of ammunition, two (2) speed loaders and a holster.

No one in St. Kitts attempted to claim the luggage on behalf of the passenger. The discovery was made while following routine security protocols for unaccompanied luggage.

The matter is being investigated jointly by Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise Department and the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force. The investigation continues.
