TWENTY-FOUR NEW SOLDIERS JOIN ST. KITTS-NEVIS DEFENCE FORCE AFTER HISTORIC GRADUATION IN NEVIS

Basseterre, Saint Kitts, March 13, 2026 (SKNIS): The ranks of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) were reinforced by twenty-four new soldiers who graduated from the Basic Military Course 1 of 2025, at a Passing Out Ceremony on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The ceremony, held at the E. T. Willet Park in Nevis, was historic as it was the first time that an SKNDF training and graduation was held on the island of Nevis. There were several other notable firsts, including a raise in pay for the recruits and the seven-month training period, which usually runs for up to four months. The extended period was necessary due to some logistical challenges at the start of the course during the first couple of weeks.

NEW YOUTH BUREAU TO PREPARE YOUNG PEOPLE FOR EMERGING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

Basseterre, Saint Kitts, March 13, 2026 (SKNIS): Youth seeking to establish new businesses to meet the growing demand for expanding services in Saint Kitts and Nevis will soon have access to a new unit in government that will provide assistance.

At the Roundtable engagement with the press on March 10, 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, outlined plans to establish the Youth Economic Empowerment Bureau. He stated that the new Bureau will directly engage young people as they take advantage of emerging sectors in tourism, agriculture, and the orange economy.
