EXPERTS AGREE – NEW BASSETERRE HIGH SCHOOL POSES NO THREAT TO THE BASSETERRE AQUIFER

 

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 30, 2019 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – During a well-attended Community Forum held on Wednesday (May 29) evening, a panel of experts dispelled any and all fears as it relates to possible environmental fallout associated with the construction of the new state-of-the-art Basseterre High School at Ponds Estate in East Basseterre.

The panel included Director of the Department of Public Works, Mr. Cromwell Williams; Chairman Innotech Services (St. Kitts) Ltd, Mr. Anthony De Silva; Environmental Engineer and Water Expert, Dr. Halla Sahely; Senior Principal at Stantec Caribbean, Mr. Andrew Hutchinson; Director of the Development Control Planning Board, Mr. Randolph Edmeade, and D&B Project Manager at Innotech Services (St. Kitts) Ltd, Mr. Ian Rogers.

Development Bank hailed by Department of Sports in Nevis for promoting sports

Charlestown, NevisMay 31, 2019 (DBSKN) — The three secondary schools on Nevis participated in the Nevis High Schools’ Basketball Tournament that concluded early in May, and newcomers Nevis International Secondary School (NISS) finished in the third position behind Charlestown and Gingerland Secondary Schools.

Presentations to hand over trophies and medals were held simultaneously on Wednesday May 29 at the winning school and at the third placed school. At the Nevis International Secondary School which had been sponsored by the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, Mr Raybo Smith represented the Department of Sports, while Ms Hyacinth Pemberton, manager of the Nevis branch of the Development Bank, represented the sponsor.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 30, 2019 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis should be satisfied that the country continues to enjoy a period of prolonged peace and security.

Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, said citizens and residents must commend all those who continue to play a critical role in the realization of this peace dividend.

“We have this calm in the society and persons should be commending all persons wherever they are from for this calm. This is the peace dividend we have been talking about and we are now having it and we are happy about it,” Prime Minister Harris said while responding to a question posed during his Wednesday, May 29, press conference.
