FAMILIES ENCOURAGED TO PROVIDE CARE FOR OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 03, 2018 (SKNIS): Families are being encouraged to provide the necessary care for older siblings especially when they are not in a position to provide self-care, said officials from the Department of Social Development.

The month of Older Persons in St. Kitts and Nevis is observed every October, which is an extension of the United Nations official celebration of International Day of Older Persons celebrated on October 01 annually.

Community Notice

 

The Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture Delegation in Canada would like to announce the launch of its 2019 Research and Internship Assistance Programme (RIAP).

This programme provides grants and support to individuals working in agriculture in Canada and countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The programme is divided into two components: Research Assistance and Agriculture Internships, and has proven to be excellent at facilitating short inter-country initiatives.

Applications for projects under the 2019 Research Assistance programme will be accepted until Friday, November 16 2018. Note that applications for the Agriculture Internship programme are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year, pending availability of funds.

OLDER PERSONS IN ST. KITTS-NEVIS WILL CONTINUE TO BE PROTECTED AND CARED FOR THROUGH IMPLEMENTATION OF AGEING POLICY

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 03, 2018 (SKNIS): The Department of Social and Community Development and by extension the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is moving to ensure that older persons are protected, cared for and remain engaged in society. Against this backdrop an ageing policy is being reviewed.

During her appearance on ‘Working for You’ on Wednesday, October 03, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Community Development, Gender Affairs and Social Services, Janelle Lewis, said that an assessment of the Federation’s ageing population was carried out several years ago that looked at issues faced by older persons in St. Kitts and Nevis.

ONE CHARGED AND ANOTHER IN CUSTODY FOR POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 04, 2018 (RSCNPF): A woman was charged for Possession of Ammunition following a search operation conducted by the Police on Tuesday, October 02.

The operation was carried out at the ferry terminal late Tuesday afternoon. Police intercepted a package that was collected from a ferry and, upon searching it, five (5) .38 rounds of ammunition were discovered. As a result, two persons were taken into Police custody.
