of Tradewinds 2018 Exercise Phase 1 at Government House on June 12, 2018

 

“Capacity development through integrated training and exercises to confront security challenges of the 21st Century”

 

 Exercise TRADEWINDS 2018 Phase I offered a joint learning environment aimed at improving the region’s security capacity network.  The requirement for understanding the operating environment was crucial to the exercise’s success.  While the training and practical skills in Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief, Counterdrug Operations, Law Enforcement and Maritime Domain Awareness are important, it is important that you take away the clear understanding that your roles as security professionals are intricately woven into and directly connected to improving the lives of all our citizens and residents. You must leave our beautiful shores with the conviction that a safe operating environment increases investor confidence, tourists’ arrivals, improves delivery of services and many other associated national benefits that in turn allow for the enhancement of our quality of life.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – It was another day of celebration today (Wednesday, June 13) for 15 more families as the Team Unity Government, through the Unity Housing Solution Programme, distributed 15 of the 16 newly constructed houses at Stadium View, Sandy Point to residents; effectively bringing to 31 the number of new homes delivered to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis in just two days.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – A short but impressive closing ceremony and cultural event were held at Government House on Tuesday, June 12 to bring the curtains down on nine days of intensive land and maritime training as part of the successful staging of Phase I of Exercise Tradewinds 2018, which was held in St. Kitts and Nevis from June 4-12.

DR. DOUGLAS’ DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT MATTER HEADS BACK TO THE COURT THIS WEEK

 BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 13, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – Opposition member for St. Christopher 6, the Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas, will head back to the High Court on Friday, June 15 to answer to legal actions brought against him by one of his constituents, challenging his eligibility to serve as a Member of Parliament while he holds and has traveled on a diplomatic passport issued to him by the Commonwealth of Dominica.

REPORT OF ARRESTS, CONVICTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June, 12 2018 (RSCNPF): Below is a report of arrests, convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period June 09-11, 2018.

ARRESTS AND BAIL:

Arrested: Réice Warner of Farms Road, Sandy Point was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. 

Arrested/Bailed: Gurminder Singh of Half Moon Bay, Frigate Bay was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Battery on Police, Obstruction and Resisting Arrest. He was granted bail in the sum of $8,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on July 02, 2018. 

Arrested/Bailed: Pia Joyde Nisbett of Upper Monkey Hill was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and for Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply. She was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 for her appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate court on July 02,2018.
