GRANDSON CHARGED FOR DEATH OF HIS 82 YEAR-OLD GRANDMOTHER

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 08, 2018 (RSCNPF): On June 07, 28-year-old Michael Nicholas of Ponds Estate was formally arrested and charged on a Warrant, in the first instance, for the offence of Murder. He was charged for causing the death of his 82-year-old grandmother, Bernice Iona Nicholas, at their home in Ponds Estate on June 03.

An autopsy earlier concluded that she died as a result of mechanical asphyxia due to obstruction of the airway.

St. Kitts and Nevis records fewer stay-over visitors in 2017

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 7, 2018 – The number of stay-over visitors to St. Kitts and Nevis fell in 2017 for the second consecutive year.

That’s according to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) which reported declines in visitor arrivals from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean for the period under review.

St. Kitts and Nevis economy continues to slow down, public debt rose in 2017, says ECCB
Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 6, 2018 – The St. Kitts and Nevis economy continues to slow down for the third consecutive year under Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris’ PLP/CCM/PAM administration.
The St. Kitts and Nevis economy registered a GDP of 1.7 percent in 2017, according to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Annual Economic and Financial Review, which predicted n its outlook for 2018, a narrowing of the Federal Government’s fiscal surplus, further slowing in receipts from the Citizenship by Investment Programme and increase inflationary pressures in the domestic economy.

WORK OF CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATORS STEADILY PROGRESSING

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 07, 2018 (RSCNPF): The Forensic Department of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has been making strides in several of their investigations.

 The department recently moved to a new facility which is housed on the premises of the Tabernacle Police Station. The facility is outfitted with some of the latest technology and, leading up to its opening, the staff had their skills upgraded as crime scene investigators, fingerprint examiners and forensic laboratory technicians. Several highly trained regional and international facilitators hosted a number of sessions that ran for almost eight weeks consecutively to prepare them for their larger roles.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 7, 2018 – The number of cruise visitors and cruise ship calls  to St. Kitts and Nevis increased  in 2017 for the third consecutive year.

That’s according to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) which reported increases in cruise visitor arrivals from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean for the period under review.
