ST. KITTS-NEVIS IS MOST SOUGHT AFTER

BY DEVELOPERS OF UPSCALE HOTEL PROJECTS

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 25th, 2018 (PRESS SEC) – St. Kitts and Nevis is the preferred destination in the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) for foreign investment, Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said today, Wednesday, April 25th, at his press conference, adding that it is also the only country in the OECS sub-region with a near five percent projected growth in 2018.

“The lineup of investment projects is impressive,” the Honourable Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis went on to mention forthcoming investments in the hotel sector such as those from the Ritz-Carlton and Six Senses luxury brands, which will lay roots in St. Kitts at the Southeast Peninsula and La Vallee, respectively.

Prime Minister Harris said the Ottley’s Plantation Inn would soon have a major influx of investment, and he also referred to the Seaview Gardens Hotel Project, which broke ground last November in West Basseterre at Camp’s.

Dr. Harris said, “We boast of the Park Hyatt, the Six Senses and the Ritz-Carlton,” adding, “We are on our way to become the destination with the largest number of branded luxury hotel properties anywhere, per capita.  This is an incredible demonstration of confidence in our government, in our people and in the transparent way in which we do business here.”

The Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Finance, noted that, “Our success is incredible, particularly given our past history of episodic investment in branded properties in our Federation.”

Prime Minister Harris pointed out that the Four Seasons Resort in Nevis opened in 1991, the St. Kitts Marriott Resort followed 12 years later in 2003, and the Park Hyatt St. Kitts at Christophe Harbour on the Southeast Peninsula debuted 14 years later in November 2017.

“No sooner than Park Hyatt has come to us, we are now saying that Six Senses has signed on to begin its debut in St. Kitts and Nevis,” the Honourable Prime Minister said, while disclosing that the Ministry of Tourism will soon be providing further updates regarding other prestigious hotels that are going to be opening here.

Prime Minister Harris then noted that upscale hotel properties are making St. Kitts and Nevis their most-sought-after investment destination.
