St. Kitts and Nevis loses when attendance at meetings is not at the appropriate level

BONN, Germany, November 21, 2017 – While several Caribbean nations were represented at the recent United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP23) by delegations led by a prime minister or minister, St. Kitts and Nevis was represented by a lower level delegation.

The 2017 UN Climate Conference took place in Bonn, Germany, from 6-18 November. Leaders of national governments, cities, states, business, investors, NGOs and civil society gathered to speed up climate action to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Change Agreement. The COP is organized by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

“The ideal would be for the minister with responsibility for climate change to attend international relations,” said a person knowledgeable in international relations.

There was a huge outcry as pandemonium riveted across social media this week when the Opposition Leader Dr Denzil Douglas continued to dodge the St Kitts parliament. Citizens were alarmed that Dr Douglas, according to the press secretary of the Prime Minister, had appeared to have hastily chartered a plane and headed to Dominica.
This stunning information comes on the heels of the accusation levelled at Dr Douglas by St Kitts and Nevis Minister of National Security and Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris, that Dr Douglas, as Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, is the holder of a Dominican diplomatic passport.

January 5th 2018 is the date for 17th annual Dr. Denzil Douglas’ Annual New Year’s Gala

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 19, 2017 – The date has been set for the Seventeenth Annual New Year’s Gala hosted by The Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, the distinguished Leader of the Opposition and National Political Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party.

According to the Chairperson of the Gala Committee, Hon. Marcella Liburd, the gala event will take place at the Grand Ballroom of the St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Royal Beach Casino on 5th January 2018.

She said the availability of tickets and other relevant information will be released at a later date.
