REPORT OF ARRESTS, CONVICTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 13, 2017, (RSCNPF): Below is a report of Arrests, Convictions and other activities recorded by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the period March 09-10, 2017.

ARREST AND BAIL:

Arrested: Stephen Chiverton Herbert, was arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of Possession of Cannabis and Possession with intent to supply. The offences were committed in Conaree Village March 10, 2017.

Bailed: Davin Wilson of Ottley’s Village was granted bailed by Her Honour Miss Harris in the sum of $50,000 for his appearance at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on Monday, 3rd April, 2017. He was charged with Possession of Cannabis, Possession with intent to supply and Trafficking.

THIRTY FOUR RECRUITS BEGIN TRAINING IN POLICE TRAINING CLASS 41

Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 21, 2017 (RSCNPF): Thirty four (34) recruits dressed in freshly tailored khaki pants and accompanying grey tops, sat attentively on Monday morning (March 20) during the opening ceremony marking the start of “Police Recruit Training Class Forty-One” at the Police Training Centre.

The group comprised of twenty-five (25) males and nine (9) females will spend the next twenty-six (26) weeks in the Police Training Centre undergoing the transformation from civilian to Police Constable. Guiding the process is a cadre of Training Officers who work under the guidance of the School’s Commandant, Inspector Eldrin Dickenson.

During the brief ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy who heads the Service Improvement Directorate and responsible for Training, told the recruits, “remember, you are about to embark on a journey for the strong at heart, you must be resolute in what you wish to achieve on a personal level.” He also encouraged them to be the best they can be, and said, “if you can’t be a sun, then be a star, …have the determination to be the best and make a difference.”

Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley challenged them to maintain their integrity and reiterated that only the highest standards of service will be accepted, he told the class “we will hold you accountable”. Commissioner Queeley also thanked the recruits for answering the Nation’s call to serve, and to Serve and Protect.

Mr. Osmond Petty, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security also gave remarks.

The training will include lectures and practical applications on, General Duties, Criminal Law, Evidence and Procedures, Professional Development and Drills and Physical Training. Other areas to be covered will include Firearms Training and Traffic Operations. Station Visits are also conducted and provides an opportunity to see field applications of the principles taught in the classroom. An overview of the Regional Security System is also presented during the training.

Graduation is expected in the last Quarter of 2017.

Hakeem Mills – Arrested and charged Offence – of Attempted Murder and shooting at with intent Mar 2017

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Police Force has made breakthroughs in two shooting cases they are investigating, and three young men have been accordingly charged.

One of the incidents occurred on March 1 which saw a female Sandy Point resident sustaining a gunshot wound to one of her arms. And the other occurred on March 4 where the house of the injured woman was shot at.

The Press and Public Relations Unit of the Police Force advised – via press release – that Hakeem Frederick of Farm Site, Hakeem Mills of Crab Hill and Omari Frederick of Farm Site were charged.

“Hakeem Frederick of Farm Site, Sandy Point has been arrested, formally charged and cautioned for the offences of attempted murder, and three (3) charges of shooting at with intent stemming from a Wednesday (March 01) shooting incident in Mount Idle, Sandy Point.

The Nevis Financial Services (Regulation and Supervision) Department (NFSD) held its 12th Annual Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Awareness Seminar and Training Workshop on March 06 and 07, 2017, at the Four Seasons Resort Nevis.  The event was held under the theme “Increasing Awareness through Smarter Compliance – Forging New Connections to Combat Financial Crime.”

SDA Charlestown membership donates equipment to Alexandra Hospital

Senior Pastor and Island Coordinator of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Stanton Adams presents lab equipment to Hospital Administrator Gary Pemberton at a ceremony at the Alexandra Hospital on March 15, 2017NIA CHARLESTOWN NEVIS (March 16, 2017) — Service at the Outpatient Department at the Alexandra Hospital will be enhanced, thanks to the donation of a haemoglobin analyser and a white blood cell analyser, from the membership of the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) in Charlestown.
Mr. Stanton Adams, Seventh Day Church Senior Pastor and Island Coordinator presented the equipment to Hospital Administrator Gary Pemberton, at the hospital on March 15, 2017.  He said the gesture is part of the church’s outreach programme “Helping Humanity”, a mandate of the world faith-based organisation, part of whose teachings and philosophy is based on wellness and health.
