DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH INCREASES FOGGING 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 03, 2018 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Health has been increasing its fogging efforts due to a large presence of the Aedes Taeniorynchus mosquito, which lives in the brackish waters of ponds and mangroves.
The Environmental Health Department has disseminated fogging schedules for major areas of concern for the mosquito breeding, which include Molinuex, Phillips, Christ Church, Mansion, Parsons, Dieppe Bay and St. Paul’s.

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 03, 2018 (SKNIS): Minister of State with responsibility for Health, the Honourable Wendy Phipps said that the theme for this year’s World AIDS Day, “Know Your Status,” is a reminder to the world that the fight against HIV and AIDS begins with individuals being aware of their HIV status via testing. World AIDS Day is observed each year on December 01.

OWNERS OF DERELICT VEHICLES ENCOURAGED TO UTILIZE AMNESTY PERIOD UP TO DECEMBER 31
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 03, 2018 (SKNIS): Officials from the Solid Waste Management Corporation (SWMC) are encouraging owners of derelict vehicles in St. Kitts to use the remainder of the amnesty period December 01-31, 2018 to dispose of such vehicles at the Conaree Landfill, free of charge.

“We are hoping that persons would take advantage of this programme. Derelict vehicles are really a problem for the country,” said Inita Lake, Collections Manager at SWMC, noting that they provide a home for rodents, mosquitoes and stashes of illegal items. “People do all manner of evil in those derelict vehicles, and so we are really trying to do our best to combat this.”

MINISTRY OF TOURISM PARTNERS WITH YOUNG CHEFS’ COMPETITION
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 03, 2018 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Tourism has stepped forward to partner with the Department of Youth Empowerment to give support to the next generation of chefs in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Allister Williams, Director of the Tourism Events Unit at the Ministry, said that partnering with the Department of Youth Empowerment for its annual High School Chefs’ competition which forms part of Youth Month, was a “great fit” for the Ministry of Tourism, as it works with and empowers young people.
