PM Harris’ Press Conference: Wednesday, November 14th, 2018

Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris is pleased to once more update citizens and residents of St. Kitts and Nevis on matters of national interest.

The Honourable Prime Minister’s monthly press conference will be held on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018 from 2:00pm in the Parliamentary Lounge at Government Headquarters.

The press conference will be broadcast live on national media and attended by the press corps who will ask questions for the benefit of the listening and viewing public.

The St. Kitts and Nevis Information Service (SKNIS) will stream the press conference live on Facebook Wednesday, November 14th, starting at 2:00pm.  Prime Minister Harris’ press conferences are always streamed live on www.facebook.com/sknismedia/.

St .Kitts and Nevis Participates in the XVII ALBA-TCP Political Council Meeting in Nicaragua

Basseterre, Nov 12, 2018- The 17th Ordinary Meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA), was held in Managua, Nicaragua on November 8, 2018. St. Kitts and Nevis was amongst the eight countries of the eleven member organization which participated in this important meeting.

The delegation was headed by Ambassador to CARICOM and OECS Commissioner, H.E. Lionel Sydney Osborne and included Ambassador in the Office of the Prime Minister, H.E. Michael Powell, and Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Sonia Boddie-Thompson.  The other countries in attendance at the meeting were Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda.

LABOUR COMMISSIONER BREAKS DOWN SEVERANCE PAYMENT FOR EMPLOYEES UNDER THE LAW 
Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 12, 2018 (SKNIS): The legislative safeguards for workers in St. Kitts and Nevis as outlined in the Protection of Employment Act have ensured that workers at Lutron Liamuiga will be fairly compensated for their years of service to the factory.

The Protection of Employment Act was originally passed in 1986. It was revised in 2002 and is now known as the Protection of Employment Act Chapter 18.27. The Act “makes certain provisions in respect of termination of employment; the establishment of a Severance Payments Fund; payment of severance payments to employees; and for other related or incidental matters.”

Prime Minister Harris: My deepest inspiration has always come from the people 

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 12, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who was first elected as a Member of Parliament for St. Christopher Seven on November 29, 1993 and returned to parliament in five subsequent elections has said that his deepest inspiration has always come from the people.

Prime Minister Harris made the remarks on Sunday November 11 at a special church service ‘Celebrating 25 years of service by Dr the Honourable Timothy S. Harris’ held at the House of Deliverance New Testament Church of God in Tabernacle. The church service was the first of events that will be held in the next three weeks in celebration of Dr Harris’ 25th Anniversary of service to the people of St. Christopher Seven, and the country.
