EU set to remove Bahamas, St Kitts from tax haven blacklist

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – European Union finance ministers are set to remove the Caribbean islands of the Bahamas and Saint Kitts and Nevis from an EU list of tax havens next week, EU documents show.

The two islands had been included in the blacklist in March as their tax rules and practices were deemed not in line with EU standards.

 After they committed to changes, EU tax officials recommended moving them from the blacklist to a so-called grey list of jurisdictions with low tax transparency standards but aiming to become less opaque, an EU document shows.

ST.KITTS OPPOSITION LEADER STILL UNABLE TO HAVE US VISA REINSTATED

Basseterre, St.Kitts (May 18th, 2018):-):- In a letter sent in January of 2015 the US State Department officially informed the then St.Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas  that his US Visa had been revoked. The revelation was made by his successor and current  Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris in a presentation during a Budget sitting of the St.Kitts-Nevis National Assembly. PM Harris revealed that documents he met upon taking office showed that US Secretary of State John Kerry had sent then PM  and now Opposition Leader Dr. Denzil Douglas a letter warning PM Douglas to refrain from issuing any passports under the CBI Programme over concerns that the program was not being properly managed by the Dr.Douglas led Labour\NRP Administration.
