Brotherly Corruption Links Harris And Coalition Ministers

Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris recently made a startling declaration to the entire nation that brought St Kitts and Nevis to the realisation that the checks and balances in place to maintain good governance and transparency in public office are no longer functioning.

On Sunday 20th May, in wilful avoidance of making a national address on the matter of his name being embroiled in the London Bribery Scandal 2018, Prime Minister Harris held a town hall meeting in his constituency. At this most raucous event, Harris chose to address the matter in a most peculiar manner.

Firstly, instead of actually clearing his name, Harris went on a power-tripping rant that when dissected by media houses even, was realised to have been directed at his Ministers. His angry statements also confirmed that the murmurings of that week concerning a secret meeting between a number of his cabinet Ministers were true. The Ministers who met in secret on a boat according to Harris were said to have been those who were strongly urging him to resign in light of the scandalous development.

The second most interesting development coming from Harris’ town hall was the following declaration that he made: “Whoever carried their suit to be dry-cleaned, to get freshened up and nice up for the swearing in of the Prime Minister, tell them there is no vacancy! There is no vacancy in the office of the Prime Minister….I don’t care where they say people went to have secret meetings for whatever do in the dark have to come out in the light! And what will come out in the light is that none of them, none of them who are scheming can hold a candle of correction to me!”

Based on the fact that Harris was obviously referring to his very own Ministers, it is safe to say that each of them in the coalition administration has accumulated ‘skeletons in their closets’ over the last three years.

The third fact is the most concerning. It strongly appears as though Prime Minister Harris has found solace and safety in the fact that none of his Ministers “can hold a candle of correction to him.” In his mind, there is not one government Minister who has the moxie or the integrity to demand his resignation because they all have been involved in one scandal or the other since taking office.

When placed alongside the fact that Harris has positioned a number of his brothers, sisters and other family members in key positions within the Federation’s judicial system, this causes one to wonder if the corruption, nepotism, and scandals that have engulfed the Federation since February 2015 can really be stopped by anyone inside the government. It has become blindingly clear that the members of the coalition administration are not united for the common cause; they are bound BY the common cause of brotherly corruption.
