Development Bank enables its clients soar like eagles
Charlestown, Nevis, May 29, 2018 (DBSKN) — Winner of this year’s Taxi Operator of the Year award in Nevis, Mr John Prentice, is thanking the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis for believing in him and giving him wings to fly like an eagle. He has said that without the financial assistance the bank would have accorded him over the years, he would not have won the covert award.
“I would like to thank the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis, not leaving out the CEO Mr Lenworth Harris,” said Mr Prentice. “He is not just a manager; he is like a father/brother. He is there by your side, not to let you make the (financial) mistake that you made before. He always puts you up. He will put you like an eagle to go in the sky, and I can say thanks to them.”
At the glamorous Nevis Island’s Ministry of Tourism’s Tourism Award Gala and Dance held on Saturday May 26 at the prestigious Four Seasons Resort, Master of Ceremonies Mr Mervin Hanley reading a citation on the awardee before the name was revealed had this to say (excerpts): “He sells Nevis to his potential clients… He acts as the true ambassador for Nevis… Some visitors have indeed mistakenly thought he is a Ministry of Tourism official… He is a gem – he is a plus for the tourism industry and our island Nevis.”
The award was presented to him by Nevis’ First Lady Mrs Sharon Brantley in the presence of the Governor General His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton, Acting Deputy Governor General for Nevis Her Honour Mrs Marjorie Morton, Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, and Premier of Nevis and Minister of Tourism in the Nevis Island Administration the Hon Mark Brantley among other high ranking officials.
Nevis’ Branch Manager of the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis Ms Hyacinth Pemberton had words of praise for Nevis’ Taxi Operator of the Year. “Mr John Prentice is our long standing customer who not only understands the job he does, and hence his success, but he is one person who mentors young entrepreneurs and as a banking institution we can confidently say he is indeed a plus, not only for Nevis but the entire Federation.”
In the meantime, apart from Development Bank including the Nevis Branch Manager Ms Hyacinth Pemberton, Mr Prentice had a long list of people to thank for making him the personality that won the prestigious award. “I would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism in Nevis, especially the Minister the Hon Mark Brantley who is also the Premier of Nevis, and the rest of the workers of the Tourism Department in Nevis, and also the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr John Hanley.”
He also thanked his wife Mrs Angela Prentice who has stood by him, his late father who was a taxi driver in Nevis Mr Leonard Prentice, and his late mother Mrs Civilla Prentice. He concluded by saying: “I also would like to thank Mr Randy Jeffers at the Lime Restaurant. He really supports me a lot as well, and I thank him for bringing tourists to Nevis who we are able to serve as our clients and make something to help ourselves.”
