During his presentation in the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly Chambers today, Thursday, December 13th, 2018, Opposition Leader Dr. Denzil Douglas told a lie on the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB).  This lie has been debunked and the truth is now being revealed.

The Leader of the Opposition said he went to the Central Bank’s website https://www.eccb-centralbank.org/ to obtain financial data on St. Kitts and Nevis and while there, “I was very shocked myself to observe that much of the most recent economic data on St. Kitts and Nevis was also not there.”

UPGRADE OF ISLAND MAIN ROAD WILL ENSURE KEY RESILIENT CARRIAGEWAY AROUND ST. KITTS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 13, 2018 (SKNIS): The upgrades currently underway on the island main road in St. Kitts are set to benefit all upon completion, said Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris during his Budget Address on Wednesday, December 12.“It is to provide a safe and resilient main carriageway for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic, while ensuring adequate drainage to reduce the possibility of flooding and road degradation,”  he said.

PM Harris to STEP workers: Work diligently to justify government’s spending on the programme

Basseterre, St. KittsDecember 13, 2018 (S.T.E.P.) — The Federal Government has since 2012 spent about $300 million on the People Employment Programme (PEP)/Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP), and Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy is beseeching workers on the programme not to take the opportunity they have for granted but to work hard.

Prime Minister Harris, who is also the Minister of People Empowerment under which Skills Training Empowerment Programme (STEP) falls, has said that there are over 2,500 persons in the programme who are being paid every week, costing the government more than four million dollars a month.
