Use of armed police to deliver dismissal letter to Dr. Patrick Martin an abuse of power, intimidation
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 27TH 2017 – The use of two uniformed police officers, one armed – to deliver a letter to the home of the Federation’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Patrick Martin, terminating his services with immediate effect “is an act of intimidation and an abuse of power.”
“Today in St. Kitts and Nevis, the crime rate is very high, irrespective of the misleading statements from Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris. You going to take two police officers to deliver a notification letter of termination to the CMO. Are we serious about fighting crime?,” asked caretaker for St. Christopher 8, Dr. Terrance Drew.

MP Liburd labels interest rate for Fresh Start programme “criminal’; urges Tim Harris to “ease the squeeze”
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 27TH 2017 – The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) chairperson, has labelled as “criminal” an 11 percent interest rate and an additional 1 percent interest on loans given to small business under the Fresh Start programme at the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis.
During Wednesday’s edition of Issues” on Freedom 106.5 FM. Mrs. Liburd, the Parliamentary Representation for St. Christopher 2 (Central Basseterre) spoke of the hardship of people unable to provide adequate shelter and food for their families and appealed to Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris to “ease the squeeze.”

Past IMF Head of Mission predicted decline in construction if Timothy Harris Government fails to attract new investment
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JULY 25TH 2017 – The decline in the construction sector as reported by TDC in its 2016/2017 Report, was predicted by the former Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to St. Kitts and Nevis, Ms. Judith Gold.
During a visit to St. Kitts and Nevis in 2015, Ms. Gold told reporters that the St. Kitts and Nevis economy was soundly established and grounded, as a result of the unprecedented construction boom that will continue for the next two to three years as a result of several projects initiated by the past St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Administration of the Right Hon Dr Denzil Douglas.
