2019 PRE-BUDGET ESTIMATES MEETINGS WRAP UP AFTER FOUR DAYS OF IN-DEPTH DISCUSSIONS

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 18, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The 2019 Budget Estimates Committee Meetings wrapped up today, Thursday, October 18, after four days of thorough and in-depth discussions between members of the Federal Cabinet and senior level government officials that will help shape the 2019 Budget.

The meetings commenced on Monday (October 15) at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room with presentations made from Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments of various Line Ministries, including the Office of the Governor General, the National Audit Office, the Ministry of International Trade and Ministry of Tourism.

CXC: 11,000 pupils got zero passes

CXC: 11,000 pupils got zero passes

SOME 11,000 pupils across the region who wrote the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Exam (formerly O’levels) last May/June got no passes. So said Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Registrar Glenroy Cumberbatch at a function for the official release of results in Grenada on Saturday.

The shocking figures came on the weekend when otherwise pupils in TT yesterday (Sunday) received their results for the CAPE Exam (formerly A’levels) from the CXC’s online portal. Pupils can access their CSEC results online on Thursday.

ECCB reports condominium tax drops 60 percent and a double digit decline in CBI programme in St. Kitts-Nevis
Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 18, 2018 – A decline in property tax receipts was driven by a nearly 60 percent decrease in condominium tax in 2017 in St. Kitts and Nevis, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is reporting.

St. Kitts and Nevis records fewer stay-over visitors in 2017

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 7, 2018 – The number of stay-over visitors to St. Kitts and Nevis fell in 2017 for the second consecutive year.

That’s according to the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) which reported declines in visitor arrivals from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean for the period under review.
