CCDA VOWS TO IMPROVE THE SOCIO- ECONOMIC WELL-BEING OF COMMUNITY AT LAUNCH OF GREEN VALLEY SUPER GAS STATION

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 18, 2018 (SKNIS): While speaking at the launch of the Cayon Community Development Association (CCDA) and official opening of the Green Valley Super Gas Station on September 17, Parliamentary Representative  for Constituency # 8, the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, congratulated the owners, Rawlinson Isaac and Lennox Liburd, for their entrepreneurial initiative in opening the gas station and launching the association that will aim to improve the social and economic well-being of the residents in the community and its environs.

POLICE INVESTIGATING INCIDENT AT FRIARS BAY

 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 18, 2018 (RSCNPF): Police are investigating an incident in which a man died while at sea Monday morning (September 17).

 The incident occurred at Friars Bay at the South East Peninsula. Preliminary investigations have revealed that 60-year-old Paul Mitchum of Cayon experienced difficulty while at sea on Monday and was pulled out of the water by a family member. The Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was called and was unable to revive Mitchum after performing Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The District Medical Doctor was summoned and Mitchum was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

An autopsy is expected to be performed shortly. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Revisions being made to the National Honours Act, says Prime Minister Harris

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 18, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, has advised that the Cabinet is to look at revisions to the National Honours Act so as to ensure that it caters for the bravery, courage and other excellent work that is being done by citizens of the Federation.

“Not everyone can be a National Hero, and not everyone should,” said Prime Minister Harris on Monday September 17 when he addressed the Nation from the National Heroes’ Park at the ceremony for the Observance of National Heroes’ Day 2018. He announced the names of 10 individuals who had been recommended for the award of Companion of the Star of Merit, and six who had been recommended for the award of Medal of Honour.

Bishop Seaton: Independence 35 theme heightens awareness of people’s role in nation building

 

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 17, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — As the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis prepares to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of its Independence on Wednesday September 19, the celebration’s theme has been hailed as one that heightens awareness of people’s role in nation building.

“As I reflected on the theme for our celebrations ‘Love, Service, Patriotism, and Pride, Independence 35’, I thought immediately about our National Motto, ‘Country above Self’,” said Bishop Charles A. Seaton on Sunday September 16 while delivering the sermon at the State Service of Praise, Prayer and Thanksgiving.
