25 years as a parliamentarian: Church honours Prime Minister Harris

 

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 5, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris was first elected to represent St. Christopher Seven in the National Assembly on November 29, 1993. While the 25th Anniversary celebrations have not officially started, his achievement was recognised on Sunday November 4 by House of Deliverance New Testament Church of God on Main Street Tabernacle which awarded him a commemoration certificate.

PM Harris congratulates leadership of Evangelistic Faith Church on its 50th anniversary

 

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 5, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — The Sandy Point-based Evangelist Faith Church on Sunday November 4 celebrated a momentous occasion with the holding of its 50th Anniversary Service at The Alley, Sandy Point, with hundreds of its members and visitors including Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris in attendance.

The church, which opened its doors to the faithful on November 3, 1968, celebrated under the theme ‘Building Together: Families, Churches, Communities’ where Pastor Prisca Hyligar noted that it was a wonderful time in the history of the Evangelist Faith Church, as they celebrated their Golden Anniversary.

Hon. Mark Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation lays wreath at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
Following on the heels of very constructive meetings with high level officials of the Government of Japan, Minister Brantley visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, in Hiroshima City, where he signed the visitor’s book and laid a wreath in honour of the thousands of lives that were lost after the world’s first atomic bombing on August 6, 1945.

Prior to the laying of the wreath, Minister Brantley had the opportunity to tour the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum where the horrors of the detonation of the nuclear bomb were fully displayed.

The Museum contains and exhibits the belongings from the victims and offers a glimpse of life before and after the bombing. Mr. Kenji Shiga, Director of the museum who conducted the tour stated that the world should never forget the horror that was inflicted on the people of Hiroshima in 1945.

St. Kitts and Nevis continues to support the efforts in international fora to bring about the total elimination of nuclear weapons for a more peaceful and safer world.
