BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, June 4, 2018 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – An impressive ceremony, which featured a musical rendition, cultural presentation and remarks by top government and military personnel, was staged today, Monday, June 4, at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium to signal the commencement of Phase I of Exercise Tradewinds 2018, which runs from June 4-12.

Development Bank named ‘Home of Masters Cricket’ by the victorious Nevis team  

Charlestown, NevisJune 4, 2018 (DBSKN) — The now hugely popular Leeward Islands Masters Cricket Tournament was held in Nevis last month, and the home team Nevis Masters reclaimed the championship trophy which they lost to St. Croix in 2016 and missed it last year when the tournament was held in St. Thomas.

“Leeward Islands Masters Cricket Tournament 2018 has just been concluded with Nevis emerging champions,” observed President of the Nevis Masters Cricket Association, Mr Franklyn ‘Kut’ Daniel, on Thursday May 28. “Not only we were champions but we were a pretty good host, echoed by all the teams that were here.”

THOUSANDS OF MARIJUANA PLANTS UPROOTED, DESTROYED DURING JOINT SECURITY FORCES OPERATIONS

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 03, 2018 (RSCNPF): A joint Police and Military Operation, last week, resulted in thousands of marijuana plants being uprooted and destroyed.

 The operation included Officers from the Special Services Unit (SSU), the Tabernacle Police Station, District ‘B’ Patrol, the Anti-Gang Unit and Soldiers from the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF). In total, over 20,000 marijuana plants were uprooted in several plots in the Mansion and Estridge Mountain area. The plants were uprooted on May 27 and 28 and destroyed on May 31. They ranged from seedling to 11 feet in height. The mature and mid-sized plants have a combined estimated street value of EC$2.5 million. Allowed to mature, the seedlings would have had an estimated street value of $1 million.

Loaded gun found near body of murdered man
Charlestown, Nevis, June 2, 2018 – St. Kitts and Nevis Police said Saturday a loaded gun was found near the body of Jamie Chapman who was murdered Friday night.
Another person was injured in the incident which took place at Clay Ghaut about 9:45 p.m.
